Given the nature of her complaint, a cardiac exam was imperative. Brian knew that, of course, but his shyness had his brain virtually paralyzed in the face of such beauty.

I stared at Brian for several seconds, wondering what on earth he was doing. “Brian,” I said, “it would help if you put the earpieces of your stethoscope in your ears.”
